Unique converted mill in the Hampshire countryside

Barton's Mill Pub & Dining is a unique converted mill, steeped in history and set in the beautiful surroundings of the Hampshire countryside.  With its own lake and river complete with swans & ducks, (and the odd otter!) and remnants of a working water wheel set alongside an extensive pub garden the pub is a great place to relax in the summer. Inside you will see the original character of the Mill with log fires and cosy areas throughout

We serve home cooked seasonal food every day with gluten free options along with an extensive wine list, real English ales including Wadworth 6X and some superb gins.  There is free Wi-Fi, plenty of parking and a great range of teas and artisan roasted coffee (and hot chocolate!).

Barton's Mill Pub & Dining is available for hire and is a perfect venue for family celebrations, weddings or wedding receptions and we hold a civil wedding licence.

We pride ourselves on supporting local businesses therefore, our menus provide a wide selection of fresh, locally supplied food.

Our rooms have been designed to maximise your comfort, ensuring you have a pleasant stay with us.

The idyllic wedding venue, perfect for any intimate wedding

Pub History

On its northern bank is our Bartons Mill Pub & Dining of which the timber-framed part of this historic building dates principally from the late 17th century and is clad in elm boarding on the upper-storey. Attached to the west of the mill building is an early 19th century house in red brick with sash windows. The former mill, in its river setting, is prominent in the views north along the Loddon.

It was last working in 1965 although it remained a private residence until December 1979 when it opened its doors as a restaurant. It is situated on the River Lodden and has a private lake in its garden. Bartons Mill Pub & Dining is surrounded by the beauty of wildlife and nature just a few minutes from the busy town of Basingstoke.

Beautifully renovated recently to seamless merge The Bartons Mill Restaurant and The Mill Stone Pub to create Bartons Mill Pub & Dining this site lovingly retains the characterful features of its historical past.
